In our quotes, hosting and care are a separate monthly item, so you can see what you would pay after launch.
Template, freelancer or studio?
- Website builder or template
- Cheapest to start, and fine for a simple page. Harder to stand out, and you do the work yourself.
- Freelancer
- Often cheaper than a studio and good for small projects. Ask who looks after the site once it’s live.
- Studio
- Strategy, design, build and care in one place, and someone to call after launch. Costs more than a template.

Questions
Why do website quotes in Hong Kong vary so much?
Because they describe different things: a template with your logo, a site designed for you, or a full system. Ask each studio to itemise its quote, then compare like with like.
What is the difference between a custom website and a web system?
Put simply, a website is for reading and a system is for working in. A company website presents your business, and visitors get in touch after reading it. In a web system, people log in and what they do creates or changes data, such as bookings, orders or quotes. That needs a database, permissions and security work, which is why it costs much more. A website with one or two interactive features, such as online booking, is still a website; those features are quoted separately.
Is a cheap website worth it?
For a simple page you rarely update, a website builder or template can be enough. If the site needs to win customers, look at what’s included after launch as well as the first price.
Do I have to pay every year?
Yes, for the domain and hosting at least. Maintenance is optional, but it keeps the site secure and up to date.
How long does a website take?
A small website usually takes one to two weeks; larger projects take four to eight weeks or more.
